RALEIGH, N.C.  – The Shaw University women's softball team will head across town to face Meredith College for a non-conference doubleheader at the Meredith Softball Complex. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.

The Lady Bears (2-2) will look to bounce back after falling short at Claflin, 9-0 and 21-1 Tuesday. Shaw was outhit 28-2 in their last outing to suffer the losses.

Marisa Richardson leads the Lady Bears offensively with a batting averaging of .467. She has tallied seven runs, seven hits, seven RBI and five doubles on the young season.

On the mound, Frances Perry (Hamilton, NJ) is 1-1 on the short year. She has pitched a total of 10 innings, allowing 12 hits, nine runs, while striking out six thus far. Perry posts a 3.94 earned run average.

This will be the first meeting between the two teams and season opener for the Avenging Angels for the 2016 season.

Meredith is a Division III institution and is a member of the USA South Athletic Conference.
