GREENSBORO, N.C.  – The Shaw University football team struggled to match Division I North Carolina A&T State University playmakers as the Bears suffered a 61-7 setback to the Aggies on Saturday evening at the Aggie Stadium in Greensboro, NC. This was the first meeting between the two teams since 1963 before tonight's game.

With the loss, the Bears drop to 0-1 to start the 2015 season, while the Aggies improve to 1-0.

Senior running back Marquise Grizzle (Camden, NC) led the Bears with 35 yards on 15 carries.

A&T scored the game's first touchdown at the 4:22 mark after Tarik Cohen rushed to give the Aggies the early 7-0 lead.

A seven-yard scamper from Cohen with 11:40 remaining in the first half extended A&T's lead, 14-0. It was his second touchdown on the day.

With 2:54 remaining in the first half, defensive back Bruce Parker, Jr. (New York, NY) would give Shaw its first light of the night after a 85-yard picked six making it a 23-7 ball game.

However, the celebration would be short lived as the Bears allowed A&T's Caleb Gabriel to score off a 92-yard kickoff return at the 14:45 mark in the third quarter.

The Aggies added five more scores thereafter, handing the Bears a 61-7 setback.

Defensively, linebacker Roland Green (Bluffton, NY) paced the Bears with 12 total tackles (7 solos, 5 assists), including three tackles for a loss and a sack; while teammate linebacker Moses White (Gordan Heights, NY) accounted for eleven total tackles (6 solos, 5 assists) and linebacker Travarji Fuller (Laurens, SC) finished the game with seven total tackles (4 solos, 3 assists) to round out the leaders.

The Bears will face Wingate next Saturday for their home opener at Durham County Memorial Stadium at 6 p.m.
