RALEIGH, N.C. – After an 85-79 victory over Paine College on Wednesday, the Lady Bears of the Shaw University women's basketball team will welcome the Crusaders of Belmont Abbey College on Saturday, Nov. 21st inside Spaulding Gymnasium for their home opener.

Kaula Jacks (Chesapeake Beach, MD) paces the Lady Bears offense with an average of 12.7 points per game, while Laquisha Taylor (Charlotte, NC) adds 11.7 ppg and Aaliyah Mercer (Bronx, NY) contributes 11.3 ppg to round out the top scorers.
Eboni Ross (Greensboro, NC) is SU's leading rebounder with 12.3 rebounds per game, followed by Taylor and Jacks with 5.3 and 3.7 rebounds per game, respectively.
Last game Mercer led the Lady Bears (2-1) in scoring with 16 points while Ross paced the unit on defense with 11 rebounds.
As a team, Shaw averages 69.3 points per game, while limiting opponents to 40.2 points per game.
Belmont Abbey is currently 1-2 overall as the Crusaders are coming off a 66-63 win of their own against Lenoir Rhyne on Wednesday.
Gabrielle Bethel averages 18.0 points per game and also leads the Crusaders in rebounding with 11.7 boards per game. Alex Busch and Taylor Johnson round out the top scorers with 12.0 points per game, while also co-leading in rebounding with 7.7 and 6.0 rebounds per game.
Tickets are still available for Saturday's game. Tickets at the gate are $15 for adults. $10 for non-Shaw students with school ID and SU students are admitted free with valid ID.
