RALEIGH, N.C. - The Shaw University football team will open Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Southern Division play when they travel to Fayetteville, N.C. to face Fayetteville State University on Oct. 10th at the Luther "Nick" Jeralds Stadium. Kickoff is at 1:30 p.m.

The last time these two teams met, the Bears came up short against the Broncos 27-26 in Durham County Memorial Stadium in 2014.
The Bears (0-5 overall, 0-2 CIAA) are coming off a 22-13 setback to Virginia Union last weekend. SU was held to 198 total offensive yards including -25 rushing and 223 passing.
Quenton Rucker (Atlanta, GA) passed for 223 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions, while defensively Roland Green (Bluffton, SC) paced the Bears with 13 total tackles, following Moses White (Gordan Heights, NY) and Marquis Burrell (Bronx, NY) with nine tackles each.
Fayetteville State (2-3 overall, 2-0 CIAA) enters Saturday's contest on a two-game winning streak, after defeating Lincoln (Pa.) 49-17.
The Broncos produced 430 total offensive yards (217 passing and 213 rushing). Derek Bryant completed 11-of-23 for 217 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions, while Darreall Hamlett had 84 yard touchdown en route to the victory.
Saturday's game will mark the 33rd meeting between the two CIAA institutions and Fayetteville State holds a 14-13-5 lead in the overall series.
