Lady Bears Blank Rams 4-0

RALEIGH, N.C. – The Shaw University women's tennis team delivered a dominant performance on Tuesday afternoon, sweeping Winston-Salem State, 4-0, at Worthdale Park.

The Lady Bears set the tone early by claiming the doubles point with wins in two of three flights. The tandem of Serena Teluwo and Camilla Martino secured a 6-2 victory at No. 1 doubles, while Veronika Philippova and Alla Antonyan added a decisive 6-1 win at No. 3. Winston-Salem State picked up a 6-2 win at the No. 2 position, but Shaw's pair of victories was enough to take the early 1-0 lead.

Shaw carried that momentum into singles play, where the Lady Bears controlled every court. Teluwo earned a straight-set win at No. 1 singles, defeating McKinley Battle 6-4, 6-1. Martino followed with a strong showing at No. 2, posting a 6-1, 6-2 victory.

Tanaka Garikai continued the surge with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles, clinching the match for Shaw with the team's fourth point of the afternoon.

In additional action, Shaw dominated the remaining courts as Hailey Banda (No. 4), Alla Antonyan (No. 5), and Veronika Philippova (No. 6) each recorded straight-set victories to complete the sweep.
