RALEIGH, N.C. — Sunday Enitan has been named the 2026 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Women's Tennis Coach of the Year, capping another dominant season for Shaw University Athletics.
Enitan guided the Lady Bears to an undefeated run through CIAA play, continuing one of the most consistent dynasties in conference history. Under his leadership, Shaw once again set the standard in the league, showcasing depth, discipline and championship pedigree throughout the season.
The honor comes as Shaw positioned itself for yet another postseason title push, maintaining its grip atop the conference despite significant roster turnover. After graduating a two-time CIAA Player of the Year along with multiple all-conference performers, Enitan retooled the lineup and kept the Lady Bears operating at an elite level.
Shaw also proved its competitiveness beyond conference play, delivering strong performances against Division I opponents and reinforcing the program's reputation as one of the premier teams in NCAA Division II tennis.
Enitan's ability to sustain excellence year after year has been a defining trait of his tenure. With more than 20 CIAA championships to his name, he has built a culture centered on preparation, player development and championship expectations.
