CHARLOTTE, NC --The Shaw men's basketball shot a season low 14-32 from the charity stripe while falling 90-77 to the Johnson C. Smith Golden Bulls on the road Wednesday.
The Bears (12-6, 4-5) had four players score in double figures, led by Alijah England, who had 15 points. Avery Huggins tacked on 15 points, nine rebounds and four assists and Dreveon Scott chipped in as well with 15 points and seven rebounds.
Shaw did an excellent job taking care of the basketball, dishing out 19 assists while turning the ball over eight times. Isaiah Buckley's seven assists were the most for the Bears.
How It Happened
After falling behind 42-29, Shaw went on a 6-0 run with 3:13 left in the first half to narrow its deficit to 42-35. The Bears deficit remained the same as they entered halftime trailing 44-37.
Shaw narrowed its deficit to 46-41 before going on a 6-0 run to seize a 47-46 lead with 17:00 to go in the contest. Johnson C. Smith re-asserted control, outscoring the Bears 44-30 the rest of the way to hand Shaw the 90-77 loss. Shaw took care of business in the paint, recording 28 of its 40 points in the lane.
