GAME 1 | Winston-Salem State 5, Shaw 4
WINSTON-SALEM, NC --The Shaw Lady Bears took a 2-1 lead into the sixth inning, but could not hang on and fell 5-4 to the Winston-Salem State Rams Tuesday.
C. Mendoza (1-5) got the ball to start for Shaw (3-12, 1-5) and took the loss.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lady Bears were trailing 1-0 in the third inning when they first put runs on the board. S. Scott drove in two runs for Shaw with a single, that scored T. Kelly and K. Walker.
The Lady Bears then held the Rams scoreless before expanding their lead in the sixth inning. P. Andrews came across to score the lone run of the inning for Shaw, which brought the score to 3-1 in favor of the Bears.
Shaw's lead had disappeared by the time the seventh inning arrived and turned into a 4-3 Winston-Salem advantage, when the Lady Bears evened up the game at four. Winston-Salem State then scored one time in the bottom half of the seventh to break the tie and grab the 5-4 win.

WINSTON-SALEM, NC --Despite picking up eight hits in the ballgame and out-hitting Winston-Salem State, Shaw was unable to push across more runs, as the Lady Bears fell to the Rams 3-2 Tuesday.
D. Gadson (2-5) got the ball to start for Shaw (3-13, 2-6) and took the loss. The right-hander went six innings, giving up three runs, two earned, on five hits, allowing two walks and striking out two.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 3-0, the Lady Bears first put runs on the board in the sixth inning. I. Davis drove in two runs for Shaw with a single, that scored S. Scott and J. Booker. The Lady Bears were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.
