GAME 1 | Fayetteville State 13, Shaw 8
RALEIGH, NC --Iona Davis put together a stellar outing at the plate Friday, hitting two homers, but the Shaw Lady Bears fell to the Fayetteville State Broncos 13-8.
C. Mendoza (2-11) started and took the loss in the circle for Shaw (3-14, 1-7).
Davis went 2-for-3 at the plate, supplementing her two home runs with three RBIs. K. Walker added to Davis' awesome power-hitting performance by going 2-for-4 with two doubles. P. Andrews also helped out for the Bears, going 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lady Bears were trailing 3-0 in the first inning when they first put runs on the board. Shaw pushed across two runs in the frame, the big blow coming on an RBI double from D'Amani Gadson.
The Lady Bears kept the deficit at 3-2 before tying the score in the second. Mendoza came across to score the lone run of the inning for Shaw, which evened the score at 3-3.
Fayetteville State broke that tie and grabbed a 9-3 lead heading into the fourth, when Shaw narrowed the gap to 9-4.
Shaw kept the Broncos off the board before narrowing the gap further in the fifth. The three-run frame for the Lady Bears was puncuated by a two-run homer from Davis bringing the score to 9-7 in favor of Fayetteville State.
Fayetteville State built on their lead to 13-7 before the Lady Bears offense got back to work, narrowing that lead to 13-8 in the seventh. Andrews came across to score the lone run of the inning for Shaw and get them on the board. The Lady Bears were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.

GAME 2 | Shaw 6, Fayetteville State 3
RALEIGH, NC --The Shaw Lady Bears took a 2-0 lead in the first inning and never surrendered the advantage on the way to a 6-3 win against the Fayetteville State Broncos on Friday. The win ended a 16 game losing streak against he Broncos dating back to 2015.
Gadson (2-5) started in the circle and picked up the win for Shaw . The right-hander went seven innings, giving up three runs, two earned, on five hits, allowing four walks and striking out six.
At the plate, the Lady Bears were led by senior Krystal Walker, who went 2-for-4 on the day with a triple and two RBI. Junior Iona Davis furnished a standout performance at the plate as well, going 1-for-3 with a walk and two RBI. Freshman Hailey Stanley also chipped in for Shaw, putting together two hits in three trips to the plate while adding an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bears got the scoring started early, putting two runs on the board in the bottom the first inning with the game still scoreless. Davis drove in two runs for Shaw with a single, that scored freshman E. Lapena and Walker.
The Lady Bears then lost some of their lead, expanding on their advantage in the third inning after the Broncos cut it to 2-1. Shaw scored three runs in the frame, buoyed by a two-run triple from Walker, which brought the Lady Bears lead to 5-1.
Shaw kept Fayetteville State without a run before building their lead to 6-1 the following inning. The Lady Bears scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Stanley. Fayetteville State put two runs on the scoreboard before the game was over, but Shaw still held on for the 6-3 win.
