Raleigh, NC – The Shaw University women's tennis team is set to kick off its 2025 season this Saturday, February 22nd, against Elon University. The match is scheduled to begin at 12:00 PM at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center in Elon, North Carolina.

This will be the third meeting between the Bears and the Phoenix, with  Division 1 Elon holding a 2-0 advantage in the all-time series. The teams last faced each other in February 2024, where Elon secured a 7-0 victory.

Shaw enters the 2025 season with high expectations, coming off a successful 2024 campaign. The Bears are predicted to finish first in the CIAA this year and are coming off their sixth straight CIAA Championship, and feature three student-athletes on the 2025 All-CIAA Tennis Preseason Team, including the reigning Player of the Year, Anja Antonijevic, Prerana Koirala and Rookie of the Year, Serena Teluwo.

The Phoenix currently hold a 5-2 record for the season most recently falling to Charlotte 4-0 on February 14.
