Shaw rallies for 9-8 walk-off victory over Tuskegee

DUNCAN, SC --The Shaw Lady Bears rallied to score two in the seventh inning and walked it off on a single off the bat of sophomore Taylor Kelly to pick up the 9-8 win over the Tuskegee Golden Tigers Friday.

Senior D'Amani Gadson (1-0) started in the circle and picked up the win for Shaw (2-1). The right-hander went seven innings, giving up eight runs, six earned, on seven hits, allowing eight walks and striking out two.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Trailing 7-0, the Lady Bears first put runs on the board in the third inning. Shaw scored twice, with one run coming across on freshman Audrey Newell's single.

The Lady Bears kept the Golden Tigers off the board before narrowing the gap further in the fourth. Gadson came across to score the lone run of the inning for Shaw, which brought the score to 7-3 in favor of the Golden Tigers.

Shaw kept the Golden Tigers off the scoreboard before rallying to tie it up at seven in the sixth. The Lady Bears bats heated up in the inning, scoring four runs, including a two-run single off the bat of freshman Elyssa Lapena and a two-run double from senior Krystal Walker.

Tuskegee then broke the tied and took an 8-7 lead before Shaw scored two runs in the bottom half of the seventh to grab the win, walking it off on an RBI single off the bat of Kelly.
