BLUEFIELD, WV. — Shaw University women's soccer team found a second half surge Saturday afternoon earning a 2-0 victory over Bluefield State at East River Soccer Complex.

After a scoreless first half despite 16 Shaw shots, the Lady Bears broke through in the 60th minute when Thea Schillaci scored off an assist from Lorena Gonzalez to give Shaw a 1-0 lead. Eight minutes later, Abigail Harrison added an insurance goal ,her team-leading sixth of the season  to make it 2-0.

Goalkeeper Olivia Ankrom anchored the defensive effort, recording four saves to earn the clean sheet. The Lady Bears outshot Bluefield State 23-9 and held a 9-4 edge in shots on goal, along with a 9-4 advantage in corner kicks.

Schillaci finished with four shots, including three on frame, while Harrison led all players with seven total attempts. Gonzalez, Galicia Monforte, and Amelia Segdwick also contributed multiple shots in the offensive attack.
