RALEIGH, NC --Kya Moore secured a triple-double with 14 kills, 11 digs, and 29 assists, but the Shaw volleyball team was defeated by the Fayetteville State Broncos 3-2 (25-12, 18-25, 25-21, 17-25, 16-18) Monday at home at C C Spalding Gymnasium.
The loss dropped Shaw's record to 9-9 overall and 7-5 in CIAA play.
Moore had an outstanding day, notching a triple-double with 14 kills, 11 digs, and 29 assists to lead the Lady Bears. Makayla Brown also added 15 kills to help the attack. On the defensive end, Kalia Morris chipped in for with 23 digs to go with one blocks from Sydni Hunter.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Lady Bears won the first point and never looked back to secure the first set 25-12. Shaw opened up its biggest lead, 13 points, to close out the set, totaling 15 kills while only notching two attack errors in the process.
SET 2 | Shaw dropped the second set 25-18 to even the match 1-1. Shaw trailed by as many as 10 points as Fayetteville State grabbed the advantage for good at 6-5 in a set that was tied up five times before the Broncos took over the lead.
SET 3 | Shaw put the second-set loss in the rearview mirror and grabbed a 2-1 match lead with a victory in the third set. The Bears scored first and never trailed in the set to secure a 25-21 victory. Shaw opened up as much as a five point lead at 23-18 before closing out the set.
SET 4 | Shaw couldn't finish off a four-set win as the Broncos forced a fifth set with a 25-17 victory. The Lady Bears trailed by as many as eight points as Fayetteville State grabbed the advantage for good at 2-1 and Shaw wasn't able to recover in a set that was knotted up just once before the Broncos took over.
SET 5 | Shaw and Fayetteville State went back and forth all game, trading wins in the first three sets until the Broncos took the final two sets, including winning the fifth set 18-16, and the match. In spite of impressive serving, the Lady Bears dropped the fifth set. Shaw recorded four aces in the set loss.
Shaw returns to action Thursday as they hose the Livingstone Blue Bears inside Spaulding Gymnasium. First serve is slated for 6 PM.Â
