ALBANY, Georgia --Shaw put together an eight-play, 70-yard scoring drive, culminating in a 28-yard touchdown reception from to with :08 remaining in the ballgame to give the Bears a 43-40 win over Albany State on Saturday night at Albany State University Coliseum.
The victory improved Shaw's record to 2-0 on the season while the Golden Rams fell to 0-2.
Christian Peters led Shaw's passing attack with 322 yards through the air, tossing five touchdowns and two interceptions. The signal caller also added 75 yards and one touchdown on the ground. His six touchdowns ties a school record.Â
To go along with Christian Peters' performance, Travon Tensley paced the Bears rushing attack by accumulating 67 yards over the course of the game.
Maceo Wingate hauled in four catches for 99 yards and one score. Ah'shaan Belcher made his presence felt in the passing game, recording six receptions for 91 yards and two touchdowns. The Bears also added 70 yards receiving and two touchdowns from Jon Barnes in the game.
Quewon Hilliard showed out for the Shaw defense, collecting one interception. Noah Terry added another interception for the Bears secondary. .
The Shaw offense did a good job prolonging drives, converting on 47.1 percent of third-down attempts.
Shaw's defense held up against Albany State's offense, allowing 327 total yards. The Bears defense disrupted the Albany State passing game on the way to grabbing two interceptions.
Shaw took care of business in the red zone, scoring three times on three trips inside Albany State's 20-yard line, with all of those scores being touchdowns.

Shaw got on the scoreboard first with 13:12 remaining in the second quarter to take a 9-0 lead.After Albany State scored to narrowed the Bears lead to 9-7, Shaw fired back with a touchdown to make it 16-7
.Albany State fought back to take a 26-16 lead before Shaw put a touchdown on the board to cut into the lead with 12:47 left in the fourth quarter and make it a 26-23 game.Albany State The Rams scored to expand its lead to 33-23 before the Bears got on the scoreboard again to narrow the advantage and make it a 33-30 game.
Albany State expanded its lead to 40-30 until Shaw scored again to close the gap with 1:54 left in the fourth quarter and make it a 40-37 game.Shaw then stopped ASU on fourth down holding the Golden Rams scoreless . The Bears rallied to take the lead at 43-40, scoring on a 28-yard touchdown pass from Peters to Belcher. ASU would have one last shot but came up empty on a trick play
