RALEIGH, NC – Shaw University's volleyball team has made a powerful start to the 2024 season, securing three consecutive victories in the 2024 Shaw U Invitational.
In their season opener, Shaw University delivered a commanding performance against Barton College, showcasing exceptional teamwork and skill. The Lady Bears won decisively with scores of 25-21,25-10 and 25-17, setting the tone for the rest of the season Friday night inside Spaulding Gymnasium.
The momentum continued as Shaw faced off against regional rival UMO. Demonstrating both resilience and strategic prowess, the team clinched another win with set scores of 27-25,25-19 and 25-23. Key players like Talia Emmen and Kalia Morris stood out, contributing significantly to the victory with impressive individual performances along with Manuela Cripa.
In their third match, Shaw University confronted Catawba, and once again, the Lady Bears emerged victorious. The final set scores were 25-18,25-14 and 25-22, marking a perfect start to the season. The team's defensive strength and offensive efficiency were pivotal in securing this win with big matches from Khamare Steppe and Kamille Patrick.
The Lady Bears' next game is scheduled for September 13 against Concord University at the Mt.Olive Invitational followed by a match with Edinboro University. Match times will be announced later this week.
