RICHMOND, VA - Shaw fell 42-7 to Virginia Union on the road Saturday afternoon.
The Panthers improved to 2-1 on the year and 1-0 in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association play, while the Bears fell to 3-2 overall and 1-1 in conference matchups.
Traquan Johnson totaled 55 yards to lead the Bears' ground attack in the game, picking up 4.6 yards per carry along the way. Johnson also tacked on one receiving touchdown. Christian Rutledge also tacked on 44 yards on the ground, picking up 11 yards per carry.
Ah'shaan Belcher pulled in one catch for 69 yards.
How It Happened
Virginia Union opened up a 35-0 lead, but Shaw got on the scoreboard with 11:31 left in the third quarter to cut the deficit to 35-7. Shaw didn't score again in the game and Virginia Union added seven more points to finish off the scoring.
