RALEIGH, NC --The Shaw University volleyball team defeated the Winston-Salem State University Rams 3-1 (25-18, 25-15, 23-25, 25-6) Monday at home at C C Spalding Gymnasium.
The victory moved the Lady Bears record to 23-4 overall and 15-1 in CIAA play.
The Lady Bears were led by a double-double from Amari Earl, who registered 19 kills and 16 digs on the day. Khamare Steppe also added nine kills to help the offense. On the defensive end, Nayara Pereira chipped in for with 33 digs to go with six blocks from Hailey Hopkins.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Lady Bears grabbed control of the set-one lead at 3-2 and never trailed to win 25-18. Shaw led by as many as nine points at 23-14 before finishing off the set, collecting 16 kills along the way.
SET 2 | Shaw won set two 25-15 to quickly jump to a 2-0 lead. The Lady Bears never trailed by more than five points and grabbed the advantage for good at 11-10 in a set that showcased two lead changes before Shaw took over the lead. The Shaw offense also got a boost from four aces in the stanza. Shaw's front row had a solid defensive performance, blocking four WSSUÂ attacks in the stanza and capitalizing on 11 Winston-Salem State attacking errors on the way to victory.
SET 3 | WSSUÂ stayed alive with a third-set win to make it a 2-1 match. The Lady Bears lost set three 25-23. Shaw trailed by as many as six points as Winston-Salem State grabbed the advantage for good at 8-7 in a set that was tied up seven times before the Rams took over the lead
SET 4 | Shaw then responded to earn the match win with a 25-6 set-four victory. The Lady Bears took control of the set at 4-3 and held the lead the rest of the way. Shaw ended the stanza on a high note by opening up its biggest lead, 19 points, to finish off the set. Shaw also supplemented their offense with four aces in the set.
