RALEIGH, NC - The Shaw University volleyball team showcased resilience and skill at the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Round-Up, finishing the event with an impressive 2-1 record. The two-day event featured cross division match ups from all of the conference institutions.
The Lady Bears now sit at 22-4 overall. 13-1 in the CIAA.
Shaw University opened the round-up with a strong victory over Bluefield State, winning 3-0 in a display of powerful serves and strategic defense. The Lady Bears continued their momentum in the second match against Elizabeth City State, capturing their second win with a 3-1 final, which featured clutch performances from the front row and back court alike.
In their final match, Shaw faced a competitive opponent in host Virginia State University. Despite a hard-fought battle, Shaw ultimately fell short with a 3-2 result. The Lady Bears dropped the first two sets before forcing a fifth and final set before fallen for the first time since 2022 to a CIAA opponent.
The Lady Bears will take a much needed break as they are off the court until November 4 as they host the WSSU Rams on Senior Night. First serve is slated for 6:00 PM inside C.C. Spaulding Gymnasium. Seniors will be recognized pre-match.
