Columbia, SC – Shaw University women's soccer team showcased an outstanding performance on the field, securing a commanding 5-0 victory over Allen University Sunday afternoon in Columbia, SC.
With the win, Shaw improves to 7-6 overall and extends the Lady Bears shutout streak to two matches.
From the opening whistle, Shaw controlled the pace of the game, displaying excellent ball movement and aggressive offense. The first goal came early in the first half, setting the tone for what would be a dominant performance by the Lady Bears. Abigail Harrison continued her hot streak finding the back of the net in the 19th minute.
Goals from Giovanna Coghetto and Avril Melio in the 23rd and 29th minutes, extended the Lady Bears lead to 3-0 at the break.
Coghetto added her second goal early in the second half followed by Joseline Becerra's first goal of the season cushioned the final score at 5-0.
Shaw outshout Allen 35-3 in total shots taken with 15 being credited on goal to just one shot on goal for the Yellow Jackets. Lindsay Polin, Olivia Ankrom and Tianna Roberts all split time between the pipes earning the clean sheet for the Lady Bears.
