RALEIGH, NC --The Shaw volleyball team tallied a .457 hitting percentage on the way to a three-set victory (25-10, 25-15, 25-11) against the Johnson C. Smith Golden Bulls Monday at home at C C Spalding Gymnasium.

The conference win improved Shaw's record to 15-3 overall and 9-0 in CIAA action.

Talia Emmen finished with nine kills on the day to lead the Lady Bears offense while finishing with a hitting percentage of .294. Defensively, had two players reach double figures in digs as Kalia Morris had 14 and Emmen had 12.

How It Happened

SET 1 | The Lady Bears took control on the first point and held the lead the rest of the way to win the first set 25-10. Shaw led by as many as 16 points at 24-8 before finishing off the set. Shaw also supplemented their offense with four aces in the opening set.

SET 2 | Shaw carried momentum from a set-one win by earning a 25-15 victory in the second set. The Lady Bears took a 1-0 lead and never looked back in the set to secure the victory. Shaw opened up as much as an 11 point lead at 23-12 before closing out the set, totaling 15 kills while only registering two attack errors in the process. The Lady Bears hit .542 over the course of the set. The Shaw offense also got a boost from four aces in the stanza.

SET 3 | Shaw took set three to finish the match in a 3-0 sweep. The Bears led from the opening point on in the set to earn a 25-11 victory. Shaw opened up as much as a 15 point lead at 21-6 before finishing off the set, totaling 16 kills along the way. The Shaw offense also got a boost from five aces in the stanza
