FROSTBURG, MD -- The Shaw volleyball team racked up 10 blocks on the way to a three-set win (25-23, 25-16, 25-18) against the East Stroudsburg (PA) Warriors Saturday at Bobcat Arena. This was their final match in the Frostburg State Tournament.
The out-of-conference win moved the Lady Bears' overall record to 2-2 on the season.
Earlier Saturday, the Lady Bears lost to Walsh in straight sets (15-25, 21-25, 23-25).
Shaw vs. East Stroudsburg
The Lady Bears' attack was paced by Kamille Patrick, who finished with 11 kills on the day while accumulating a hitting percentage of .611, and Amari Earl, who had 10 kills. Defensively, Shaw had three players reach double figures in digs, including Jasmine Culp's 17, 15 from Lillian Carlson, and 13 more from Lauren Janok. Hailey Hopkins contributed five blocks from the front row.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Lady Bears won the first point and held the lead the rest of the way to win the first set 25-23. Shaw led by as many as nine points at 17-8 before finishing off the set. The Lady Bears got a solid defensive performance from a front row that blocked four East Stroudsburg (PA) attacks in the stanza.
SET 2 | Shaw won set two 25-16 to swiftly grab a 2-0 lead. The Lady Bears took control of the set early on at 2-1 and never trailed. Shaw led by as many as nine points at 24-15 before closing out the set, collecting 16 kills without registering an attack error in the set.
SET 3 | Shaw took set three to finish the match in a 3-0 sweep. The Lady Bears led from the opening point in the set to secure a 25-18 victory. Shaw opened up a 12-point lead at 24-12 before finishing off the set. Shaw's front row had a solid defensive performance, blocking four East Stroudsburg (PA) attacks in the stanza.
Shaw vs. Walsh (Ohio)
Lillian Carlson finished with a match-high nine kills on the day to lead the Lady Bears offense. Defensively, Shaw had three players reach double figures in digs, including Carlson's 15, 14 from Jasmine Culp, and 10 more from Lauren Janok.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Lady Bears found themselves in an early hole, losing a tough first set 25-15. Shaw trailed by as many as 11 points as Walsh grabbed the advantage for good at 4-3 in a set that was tied up two times before the Cavaliers took control.
SET 2 | Shaw then lost the second set 25-21 to fall behind in the match two sets to none. Walsh grabbed the advantage for good at 7-6 in a set that was tied up four times before the Cavaliers took over the lead.
SET 3 | Shaw couldn't prolong the match and lost in set number three. The Lady Bears fell behind on the first point and never clawed back into the lead before losing the set 25-23.
