DURHAM, NC - The Shaw women's soccer team fought valiantly but fell to Lincoln Memorial 1-0 at Durham County Stadium on Wednesday.
Down 1-0 at halftime, the Lady Bears (4-2 overall) picked up the pace offensively, taking six shots in the second half after attempting two first-half shots. They came close a few times but failed to score.
The statistics reflected how close the contest was between both teams. The Railsplitters held a slight edge in shots (10-8), corner kicks (4-2) and saves (5-2) overall. Both teams attempted six shots in the second half.
The Lady Bears committed less fouls (5-10) than Lincoln Memorial, which received a yellow card.
Shaw plays again Saturday, Sept. 16, at Virginia State in Ettrick, Va. Match time is 1 p.m.
