FAIRMONT, WV -- The Shaw volleyball team could not overcome the Falcons' offense Saturday on the road, falling to Fairmont State in three sets (22-25, 23-25, 22-25).
The non-conference loss snapped a 14-match win streak for Shaw, which is 24-5 on the season. Fairmont State improved to 15-12.
Noelani Beard finished with nine kills to lead the Lady Bears' offense. Shaw got 13 digs from Maelie Chupin to go along with five blocks from Kamille Patrick.

SET 1 | The Lady Bears fell behind early, dropping the first set 25-22. Fairmont State grabbed the advantage for good at 18-17 in a set that was tied up four times before the Falcons took over in the second half of the stanza.
SET 2 | Shaw fell in set two 25-23, digging a 2-0 hole in the match. Fairmont State grabbed the advantage for good at 17-16 in a set that was tied up five times before the Falcons took over in the second half of the stanza.
SET 3 | Shaw couldn't prolong the match and lost in set number three. The Lady Bears came up short by the score of 25-22. Fairmont State grabbed the advantage for good at 21-20 in a set that was tied up six times before the Falcons took over in the second half of the stanza.

The Lady Bears return to CIAA action on Wednesday, Nov. 1, in a road match against Winston-Salem State at 6 p.m. Shaw has already clinched the Southern Division.
