The Lady Bears then lost some of that lead, but still entered the quarter break with a 17-9 advantage. Shaw built that first quarter lead to 30-16 before going on a 7-0 run starting at the 3:20 mark in the second period, highlighted by a bucket from Jones, to increase its lead to 37-16. The Royals cut into that lead, but the Lady Bears still enjoyed a 37-18 advantage heading into halftime. Shaw dominated in the paint, scoring 14 of its 20 points close to the basket.
Following intermission, Shaw continued to expand its advantage, pushing it to 47-24 before going on a 7-0 run, punctuated by a basket from Madjiguene Pene, to expand its lead further to 54-24 with 11 seconds to go in the third, a score which remained until the end of the third quarter. Shaw's bench made the most of its minutes in the period, as non-starters totaled seven of the team's 17 third-quarter points.
Shaw kept widening that lead, expanding it to 65-29 before going on a 7-0 run, finished off by Kalissa Jameson's layup, to grow the lead to 72-29 with 1:28 to go in the contest.
