SALISBURY, N.C. – The Shaw University women's tennis team (1-3) was defeated by Catawba College (2-2), 7-0 on Monday afternoon at the Johnson Tennis Center.

The Lady Bears were swept in the double's sessions with 6-1, 6-0 and a default. Sophomore Eva Simo (Bafoussam, Cameroon) and freshman Chetna Kumari (Gurgaon, India) battled but it would not be enough as both players fell either 6-3 or 6-2 at the No. 1 and 4 singles position.

Shaw will return to action on Mar. 3 for a conference matchup and division opener with Johnson C. Smith in Charlotte, NC. First serve is slated for 2 p.m.
