RALEIGH, N.C. – Shaw University women's tennis was able to redeem themselves Thursday afternoon as the Lady Bears earned a 6-1 victory against Livingstone College to improve to 10-4 overall and 8-2 in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) at Lions Park.
 
Despite being a player short for the second consecutive match, the Lady Bears was able to take a one-point lead after doubles competition after senior Carmen Mantecon (Madrid, Spain) and junior Sire Dibe (Tucumon, Argentina) took a 6-0 win at the No. 1 doubles while a freshman tandem of Kundai Manyonga (Harare, Zimbabwe) and Eva Ostermeier (Munich, Germany) were victors at the No. 2 doubles, 6-0.
 
Although LC was able to take a win at the No. 6 singles due to player shortage by Shaw, the Lady Bears cruised to victories at the No. 1-5 singles all by the scores of 6-0, 6-0.
 
Shaw will look for a rematch with Johnson C. Smith on Apr. 6 in Charlotte, N.C. First serve is slated for 2 p.m.
