LADY BEARS POST 7-2 WIN AT FAYETTEVILLE STATE

RALEIGH, N.C. – The Shaw University women's tennis team earned a 7-2 win over Fayetteville State University Tuesday afternoon, marking their 11th-straight Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) victory and 17th consecutive victory of the 2018 season. With the win Shaw now stands 17-1 overall and 11-0 in the CIAA while FSU falls to 3-8 overall and 3-6 within the conference.

 

Shaw won two of the three doubles by the scores of 8-0. The Lady Bears earned victories in five out of the six singles, including a 6-1, 6-0 win by Carmen Mantecon (Madrid, Spain) at the No. 1 while Marilyne Kamegne(Yaoundé, Cameroon), Andrijana Martic (Belgrade, Serbia) and Teodora Jovanovic (Nis, Serbia) all gathered 6-0, 6-0 wins at the No. 2, 3, and 5 singles to claim the match win and sweep of Fayetteville State.

 

The Lady Bears will return to action on Thursday, Apr. 12 with a nonconference tilt at Catawba College. First serve is slated for 2 p.m.
