LADY BEARS WIN FIFTH-STRAIGHT; BLANKS LIVINGSTONE 9-0

 

RALEIGH, N.C. – The Shaw University women's tennis team blanked Livingstone College, 9-0 for their fifth-consecutive victory on the season Tuesday afternoon at Worthdale Park. The win improves the Lady Bears to 5-1 overall and 4-0 in the CIAA while the Lady Blue Bears drop to 0-4 and 0-3 in the CIAA.

The Lady Bears earned an 8-1 victory at the No. 1 doubles led by senior Marilyne Kamegne (Yaoundé, Cameroon) and freshman Carmen Mantecon (Madrid, Spain) before junior Teodroa Jovanovic (Nis, Serbia) and sophomore Helena Fekete (Belgrade, Serbia) won 8-0 at the No. 2. LC forfeited the No. 3 doubles as the Lady Bears took a 3-0 lead heading into singles competition.

Shaw won four-straight sets in singles action in route to the 9-0 match victory. The Lady Bears will return to action on Saturday, Mar. 17 with a home match versus Pfeiffer at 9:30 a.m.
