LADY BEARS TENNIS WINS 5-0 OVER ELIZABETH CITY STATE

ELIZABETH CITY, NC – The Shaw University women's tennis team claimed a 5-0 victory over Elizabeth City State University on Friday afternoon in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Roundup.

The win improved Shaw to 5-1 on the season and 1-0 in the CIAA, while the Lady Vikings dropped to 0-2 overall and 0-2 in the league.

Shaw led 3-0 after winning all three doubles matches. Daniela Vanko (Montreal, Canada) won at the No. 1 singles by scores of 8-0 and Teodora Jovanovic (Nis, Serbia) also defeated her opponent by the score of 8-0. After the Jovanovic's victory, the match was called and the remaining singles matches were unfinished.

The Lady Bears will face Virginia Union and Bowie State on Saturday, Mar. 11 at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. to conclude the roundup.
