SHAW WOMEN'S TENNIS SWINGS INTO 2017 SEASON AT MEREDITH

RALEIGH, NC – The Shaw University women's tennis team will open its spring 2017 season at Meredith College Wednesday, Feb. 8 at 3 p.m. at the Meredith Tennis Complex. The matchup against the Angels is the first of nine road matches for the Lady Bears before Shaw hosts its home opener against Livingstone on March. 14.

The team looks to get back into action for this first time this season after coming off a runner-up finish in the 2016 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Women's Tennis Championship. Shaw loss to Chowan 5-2 back on April 30 and concluded the 2016 season with an 18-3 overall record and 12-1 finish in the conference.

Head coach Sunday Enitan enters his 19th season at the helm of the Shaw Tennis program. Shaw returns four players from last season in addition to two players that were named to the CIAA All-Conference Teams, including Teodora Jovanovic (Nis, Serbia) and Marilyn Kamegne (Yaoundé, Cameroon). The Lady Bears welcome two newcomers to this year's squad.

Meredith, a member of the NCAA Division III USA South Athletic Conference is led by head coach Meredith Vincent. The Angels posted a 12-7 mark last season.
