RALEIGH, NC – The Shaw University women's tennis team extended its win streak to seven with the Lady Bears 6-1 win over Bluefield College Wednesday afternoon at Lions Park.

In doubles, Shaw's Ana Ruzir (Zagreb, Croatia) and Teodora Jovanovic (Nis, Serbia) took down the Lady Rams' Gema Mendoza and Paloma Sanchez, 8-4 on the top court. The Lady Bears then dominated the point after Marilyne Kamegne (Yaounde, Cameroon) along with doubles partner Anadrijana Martic (Belgrade) claimed an 8-0 victory over Rebecca Havens and MyKenzie Roach.

The Lady Bears took their doubles competition momentum into singles action, taking four of the five matches from Bluefield (3-3). Ruzir was the first match off the court after earning a two set victory over Mendoza, 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 1 spot.

Jovanovic would fall to Sanchez 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 2 as the Lady Bears held a 3-1 advantage.

Kamegne and Martic would both earn wins for Shaw at the No. 3 and 4 slots before Simbiat Aleem (Lagos, Nigeria) sealed the deal with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Roach at the No. 5 spot.

Shaw (7-1) will return to action on Friday, March 11 to host Winston-Salem State University for a CIAA matchup. First serve is slated for 1 p.m. at Lions Park.
