RALEIGH, NC – The Shaw University women's tennis team downed the Lady Bulldogs of Bowie State University, 7-2 Sunday, March 6 to conclude the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Tennis Round-Up at Lions Park.
The Lady Bears earned two wins in doubles (8-2, 8-1) before forfeiting the No. 3 doubles.
With only five players, Shaw won 5-of-6 singles. Ana Ruzir (Zagreb, Croatia) won the first set (6-0, 6-0) and Teodora Jovanovic (Nis, Serbia) secured the No. 2 singles with match sets (6-1, 6-1).
Marilyne Kamegne (Yaounde, Cameroon) claimed the third spot in the lineup (6-0, 6-1), while Anadrijana Martic (Belgrade) swept the fourth spot with a 6-0, 6-0 victory and Simbiat Aleem (Lagos, Nigeria) gave the Lady Bears the fifth slot with 6-0, 6-0 match sets.
Shaw will return to action on Tuesday, March 8 to host Livingstone College for a CIAA matchup. First serve is slated for 1 p.m. at Lions Park.
