LADY BEARS TENNIS FALLS AT NC A&T STATE, 4-2 IN SEASON OPENER

GREENSBORO, N.C.  – In its season-opening match, Shaw University women's tennis suffered a 4-3 setback to North Carolina A&T State University on Monday.

Shaw dropped the doubles point in the match; however, the Lady Bears (0-1) showed strong performances in singles play to fall 4-3 in the loss.

The doubles duos of Ana Ruzir (Zagreb, Croatia) and Teodora Javanovic (Nis, Serbia) and Marilyne Kamegne (Yaounde, Cameroon) and Adrijana Martic (Belgrade) found the loss column for the Lady Bears.

However, Shaw flipped the script in singles play, earning three wins at five of the six positions.

Ruzir defeated Sheyla Fahinana, 6-2, 7-6 at No.1 Singles, followed by Martic with a 6-2, 4-6, 6-0 victory at No. 4 Singles before Aleem earned a 6-2, 7-6, 6-3 win at No. 5 Singles.

Shaw will be back in action Johnson C. Smith University on Tuesday, Mar. 1 at 2 p.m.
