HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Shaw women's tennis team downed Coker 5-4 in a match played Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Bears swept the higher seeds, taking number one and two doubles, and number one through three singles.
Claudia Silva and Gislaine Farias teamed at number one doubles and claimed an 8-4 victory over Jessi Campos and Sarah Elliott. At number two doubles, Jessica Medina and Menel Ben-Cheikh won 8-6 over Kyria Borelli and Faith Baxley.
Silva then claimed a win at number one singles, 6-1, 6-1 over Campos. Medina defeated Elliott 6-1, 6-1.
Farias sealed the win with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Borelli.
The Lady Bears return to action Sunday when they host Bluefield State at Biltmore Hills Park in southeast Raleigh. First serve is at 2:00 p.m.
