RALEIGH, N.C. - The Shaw Lady Bears tennis team closed out their regular season with a 6-1 win over visiting Virginia Union in a match played at Biltmore Hills Park Monday afternoon.

Shaw took a 2-0 lead by winning both doubles matches.  Gislaine Farias and senior Claudia Silva combined for an 8-3 win at number one doubles, while Jessica Medina and Menel Ben-Cheikh won at number two doubles by an 8-1 margin.

Silva closed out her regular season career at number one singles with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Kara Miller.  Medina defeated Ellie Parsons 6-1, 6-0 at number two singles.

Farias, at number three singles, and Hailli Hanna-Cook at number five, both recorded 6-0, 6-0 sweeps of their opponents.

The Lady Bears close out the season with a 15-3 mark, 11-2 in the CIAA.  They will begin CIAA Tournament play Thursday morning.
