Box Score RALEIGH, NC - Shaw University fell 16-9 to cross-town rival Saint Augustine's University on Saturday afternoon at the George Williams Athletic Complex, in Raleigh, NC.
With the loss the Bears end the season 3-7 and 2-5 in the CIAA.
Both teams came onto the field playing strong defense with both teams only being able to score field goals during the first quarter.
Shaw scoring the field goal with a 25-yard kick by
Ian Burris. Four minutes later Saint Augustine's scored their own 25-yard field goal.
The Bears and the Falcons went into second quarter tied 3-3.
Shaw's defense still held strong during the second quarter as the Falcon's were only able to score another field goal from 49-yards out, taking the lead 6-0.
Coming back from halftime, Saint Augustine's scored a touchdown 20 seconds into play. With the PAT the Falcons cushioned their lead 13-3. Later in the quarter the Falcons would score another field goal, increasing their lead to 16-3.
Towards the end of the fourth quarter, 4:23, Shaw's
Raheem Bramwell would recover a Saint Augustine's fumble, Bramwell would rush in from 30-yards out to score a touchdown. With a blocked PAT, the Bears only gained six points.
Trey Folston finished the game passing 83 yards and throwing two interceptions.
