RALEIGH, N.C. - Behind sterling singles play, Shaw women's tennis team downed Shepherd 6-3 in a match played Thursday afternoon at Biltmore Hills Park.  With the win, Shaw improves to 2-2 on the season.

All four of Shaw's top singles players - Claudia Silva, Jessica Medina, Michelle Hart and Gislaine Farias - all won their matches 6-0, 6-0.  Only number five singles player Desiree Bell dropped a match, losing to Chloe Raines 7-6, 6-2.  Shaw defaulted on the sixth singles match because they were short handed.

In doubles, the Lady Bears defaulted on the third doubles match, but won both the number one and number two doubles matches.  Medina and Hart won the number one doubles match 8-2, while Farias and Silva won the number two match 8-0.

The Lady Bears return to action on March 10 when they travel to Charlotte to take on Johnson C. Smith.
