HAMPTON, Va. - The Shaw women's tennis team showed that its top seed was no fluke as they downed eighth seeded Bowie State 6-0 in the quarterfinal round of the CIAA Women's Tennis Tournament.

Shaw swept the three doubles matches with identical 8-0 scores.  They needed only two singles victories for the match win.

Claudia Silva, Vimbai Mawisire and Gislaine Farias - all of them All-CIAA Team selections - then swept their opponents by 6-0, 6-0 scores.

The Lady Bears now advance to the semifinals where they will take on Johnson C. Smith at 10:00 a.m.  In the other semifinal, reigning champion Winston-Salem State will take on Virginia State at 9:00 a.m.
