(Salisbury, NC) – The Shaw women's tennis team opened their defense of the CIAA title with a dominating doubleheader sweep of Livingstone, 9-0 in both matches.

In the first match, the Lady Bears did not lose a game, sweeping all six singles and three doubles games 8-0.

In the second match, four singles matches went Shaw's way 8-0. One was a forfeit to Shaw and the other was 8-1. The three doubles games (including one forfeit) were won by Shaw 8-0.

The women's and men's teams return to the court on Saturday when they host Barton College at 1:00 p.m. Shaw home matches are held at Biltmore Hill Park, 2613 Fitzgerald Drive in Raleigh.
