Randy McClure enters his sixth season as the head men's and women's soccer coach at Shaw University. McClure took over the reins of both programs before the 2019 season. In his first five seasons in charge of the soccer program, McClure has amassed 65 wins and compiled an overall record of 38-35-3 and 27-42-8 for the women’s and men’s teams respectively.
In the 2023 season, McClure led both teams to school records for wins, putting together 9 for the men and 16 for the women, earning both teams an invitation to the USCAA Division I National Championships. Before guiding the women’s team to its first USCAA National Championship, McClure helped the women’s team bring home the NCAA Division II Independents Championship. For his efforts, McClure was named the 2023 USCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Coach of the Year.
McClure came to Shaw after serving as an assistant coach for the women's soccer program at Catawba College. Additionally, he served as the head coach for the developmental team. Prior to Catawba, McClure served as the Director of Coaching & Player Development at Port St. John United Soccer Club (FL). Previously, McClure served as assistant women's soccer coach at Pfeiffer University from 2015-2016.
McClure has an extensive coaching resume, holding the highest credentials from the United States Soccer Federation, United Soccer Coaches, and United States Youth Soccer. He has been coaching for more than 20 years at the high school and youth level. McClure has served on the Olympic Development Program staff in North Carolina and Minnesota.
McClure was named the 2009 Lee County Athletic Conference Coach of the Year while at South Fort Myers High School (FL) when he led the Wolfpack to its first conference title. He has also led several successful club teams in Florida. McClure currently coaches senior boys and girls for North Carolina Football Club.
McClure earned a degree in education from Bowling Green State University in 1992. He also received graduate degrees in English from Chapman University and Bowling Green State University. McClure has four children, and he currently resides in Knightdale.
