Lawrence Kershaw is entering his first season as the Offensive Line Coach and Run Game Coordinator for the Shaw University Football Team.
Coach Kershaw comes to Shaw after two seasons at Tattnall Square Academy. He Spent one season as the Defensive Coordinator and his 2nd season as the offensive coordinator.
Prior to Tattnall Square Academy, Coach Kershaw spent one season as the offensive line coach at Virginia State University. He spent four seasons at Winston Salem State University as the Offensive Line Coach, with one of those seasons as the offensive coordinator. Prior to WSSU, Coach Kershaw spent three seasons as the head coach of the Fayetteville State Broncos. During his tenure as head coach of the Broncos, he led the team to a 15-15 overall record along with a 13-6 record in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) play. During his tenure as head football coach of the Broncos, Kershaw helped to produce a pair of All-Americans and over 22 All-CIAA selections. One of which included Marcus Reed who signed with the Kansas City Chiefs. He was awarded the Governor’s Award of Excellence, FSU Award of Excellence, FSU Employee of the Year and Humanitarian Award for his work in the community and on campus.
Prior to taking the reins at Fayetteville State, Kershaw spent five years as the Offensive Coordinator/Offensive line coach at Florida A&M. During his time there, the Rattlers earned a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Co-Championship as well as leading the MEAC in scoring offense, pass offense, total offense, rushing offense passing efficiency, touchdown passes, and completion percentage during his tenure at FAMU. In 2007, Kershaw served as the offensive line coach at Hampton University. He also served as the offensive line coach and the coordinator of the strength & conditioning program at Truman State University. He is definitely not a stranger to the CIAA as he spent time as the assistant head coach at Virginia Union University and the offensive coordinator at Virginia State University where he helped the team to win a pair of CIAA championships and a runner-up finish. He also spent three years as the offensive line coach with the Trojans.
As a player, Kershaw completed his playing career at Virginia State.
Kershaw holds a Bachelors and Masters of Education degree from Virginia State University. Coach Kershaw is the father of two children, Vincent Kershaw and Zaniah Kershaw.
