Ken Hill enters his fifth season as Defensive Line Coach at Shaw University.
Hill was part of the Bears' program that went 6-4 overall, 5-2 in the CIAA and placed second in the Southern Division in 2019. Hill is responsible for one All-CIAA recipient in Dast Sturkie, who was selected Second Team All-CIAA.
In 2018, Hill was part of a Bears' team that went 5-5 overall and 4-2 in the league. Under Hill’s guidance, the Bears had one defensive lineman - Mark Shannon - earn CIAA All-Rookie recognition.
During the Bears' 2017 campaign, defensive lineman Keith Alston was selected Second Team All-Conference. In 2016, defensive lineman Dominique Hannibal claimed First-Team All-CIAA recognition while senior defensive lineman Venson Jones, Jr. earned honorable mention honors.Â
Additionally, Hill was part of the Bears' coaching staff that led Shaw to victory over crosstown rival Saint Augustine's in the first Raleigh Classic contest in 2016. Overall, Hill has been part of four Raleigh Classic victories in six games.Â
Hill previously coached linebackers at Saint Augustine’s University in 2015. Before arriving at Saint Augustine’s, Hill coached at Southern Durham High School in Durham, N.C., where he helped Southern Durham capture one state championship and two conference titles during his tenure as linebackers and strong safeties coach. Hill also assisted with game plans and film breakdown.
As a student-athlete, Hill was an All-American, two-time All-CIAA linebacker and four-year letterman at North Carolina Central University where he holds the single-game record of 24 total tackles versus Bowie State.
Hill, a native of Henderson, N.C., graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science with a concentration in Public Administration at North Carolina Central University in 1998.
