MARS HILL, N.C. --The Shaw Bears were not able to score a run against Mars Hill pitcher Kamryn Akins on Monday and were shut out 1-0 by the Lions.

Syhia Marks (1-4) started and took the loss in the circle for Shaw (1-9). The right-hander went six innings, giving up one run on five hits, allowing one walk and striking out four.

In the batter's box, the Lady Bears were paced by Jordan Booker, who went 1-for-3 on the day.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Shaw did not advance a runner past second base in the game. The Lady Bears went 0-for-3 with runners in scoring position, last placing a runner as far as second in the fourth, when Booker made it into scoring position with two outs.
