Smith Highlights Successful Bowling Weekend for Shaw

RALEIGH, NC - Shaw University posted a 5–7 overall record at CIAA Event II, held Feb. 6–8 in Rock Hill, S.C. this past weekend.

The Lady Bears recorded a .417 winning percentage over 12 matches, finishing behind Fayetteville State (12–0) and Livingstone (7–5) in the final standings, while placing ahead of Johnson C. Smith (0–12).

Senior Brooke Smith turned in one of the top individual performances of the weekend for Shaw, emerging as one of the event's high scorers. Smith averaged 191.44 pins per game across nine games, earning high-average honors for the Bears. She also recorded Shaw's top individual game of the weekend with a score of 225, highlighting a strong and consistent showing throughout the three-day event. Keiara Williams also turned in a career high score of 211 pins while averging 146.33 pins on the weekend. 

Smith's scoring card included games of 209, 214, 225, 205, and 195, anchoring Shaw's lineup and providing stability across both traditional team play and baker formats.

As a team, Shaw totaled 7,964 pins for the event, including 6,128 pins in traditional team play and 1,836 pins in baker competition, remaining competitive throughout the weekend while earning five match victories against CIAA opponents.
