RALEIGH, NC --The Shaw volleyball team tallied a .61 hitting percentage on the way to a three-set victory (25-3, 25-5, 25-9) over the Sweet Briar College Vixens Saturday at home at C C Spalding Gymnasium.
The out-of-conference win boosted the Lady Bears' overall record to 1-0 on the season.
Asia Olivera finished with eight kills on the day to lead the Bears offense while finishing with a hitting percentage of 1.0.Leana Gould also pitched in with nine in the contest. got 10 digs from Gould to lead them defensively.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Lady Bears took control on the first point and never trailed to win the first set 25-3. Shaw opened up its biggest lead, 22 points, to finish off the set. Shaw also supplemented their offense with 12 aces in the opening set.
SET 2 | Shaw carried momentum from a set-one win by earning a 25-5 victory in set number two. The Lady Bears grabbed control of the set lead early on at 4-3 and never looked back. Shaw opened its biggest lead of the stanza, 20 points, to close out the set. The Shaw offense also got a boost from six aces in the stanza.
SET 3 | Shaw took the third set to sweep the match 3-0. The Lady Bears took a 1-0 lead and never looked back in the set to earn a 25-9 victory. Shaw ended on a high note, claiming its biggest lead, 16 points, to finish off the set. The Shaw offense also got a boost from 11 aces in the stanza.
