RALEIGH, N.C. – The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) announced Tuesday that Shaw University libero Kalia Morris has been named the CIAA Defensive Player of the Week for Week 4.
Morris was a steady force on the backline for the Lady Bears, leading Shaw to a perfect 2–0 week with wins over Barton and Johnson C. Smith. The Kansas City, Missouri native anchored the defense with her trademark consistency, finishing the two-match stretch with 33 total digs while averaging 3.0 per set. She also added six assists and four service aces, providing balance in both serve receive and transition play.
Her standout performance helped Shaw extend its winning streak and maintain momentum as the Lady Bears opened CIAA play.
This marks Morris' first weekly honor of the 2025 season and adds to her growing list of career accolades.
The Lady Bears return to action this weekend when they travel to Fayetteville State University for the first CIAA Volleyball Round-Up of the season.
