GAME 1 | Shaw 2, Claflin 1
RALEIGH, NC --The Shaw Lady Bears rallied to score one in the seventh inning and walked it off on a single off the bat of sophomore Jordan Booker to pick up the 2-1 victory over the Claflin Panthers Wednesday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lady Bears got the scoring started early, putting one run on the board in the bottom the first inning with the game still scoreless. Sophomore Paradise Andrews came across to score the lone run of the inning for Shaw and get them on the board.
Claflin then rallied to tie the ballgame at 1-1 before Shaw walked it off in the bottom of the seventh on an RBI single off the bat of Booker.
GAME NOTES
» Shaw's highest scoring inning was the seventh, when it pushed one run across.
» Shaw grabbed a 1-0 lead in the bottom half of the first and didn't surrender that lead for the remainder of the game.
» The Lady Bears out-hit the Panthers at a 4-3 clip.
» Shaw pitchers limited Claflin to just 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 11-0, the Lady Bears first put runs on the board in the fourth inning. Shaw's offense started clicking and put up five runs, including a two-run double off the bat of sophomore Jordan Booker.
The Bears kept the Panthers off the board before narrowing the gap further in the sixth. Senior Krystal Walker's bases-clearing double was the offense in a three-run inning for Shaw, which tightened the Panthers lead to 11-8.
Shaw held the Panthers off the board before narrowing the gap to 11-10 in the seventh. The Bears pushed two runs across on a two-run double off the bat of Booker that scored junior Iona Davis and senior D'Amani Gadson. The Lady Bears were able to get the tying run on third base but would pop out to the Claflin pitcher to end the ballgame.Â
