Bears secure 3-0 sweep over WSSU.

WINSTON-SALEM, NC --The Shaw volleyball team got the job done in three sets (25-18, 25-19, 25-22) to take down the Winston-Salem State Rams Monday on the road at the C.E. Gaines Center.

The victory improved the Lady Bears record to 7-2 overall and 2-0 in CIAA action.

Kamille Patrick finished with seven kills on the day to lead the Lady Bears offense while finishing with a hitting percentage of .429. got 15 digs from Kalia Morris to lead them defensively.

» Nayara Pereira had a match-high two aces in the win.
» Shaw never trailed on the way to winning the first set 25-18.
» Kamille Patrick had a match-high seven kills for Shaw.
» Shaw got a match-high 15 digs from Kalia Morris.

How It Happened

SET 1 | The Lady Bears took control on the first point and never looked back to win the first set 25-18. Shaw led by eight points at 10-2 before finishing off the set.

SET 2 | After their win in the first set, Shaw put themselves on the cusp of a sweep with a 25-19 victory in set number two. The Lady Bears took control of the set lead early on at 4-3 and never looked back. Shaw led by as many as eight points at 20-12 before finishing off the set. The Shaw offense also got a boost from four aces in the stanza.

SET 3 | Shaw then ended the match with a victory in set number three. The Lady Bears the set set three 25-22. Shaw trailed by as many as six points, but took the lead for good at 18-17 in a set that had just one lead change before the Lady Bears took over in the second half of the stanza. The Shaw offense also got a boost from three aces in the stanza.

The Lady Bears are back in action Thursday as they host the Claflin Panthers in CIAA action. First serve is slated for 6 PM inside C.C. Spaulding Gymnasium.
