TUSCULUM, TN –The Shaw University Women's Soccer team faced a tough challenge on the road, falling to Tusculum University with a final score of 3-2. The match, held at Tusculum's Pioneer Field Saturday afternoon
The Lady Bears record now sits a 1-2 while the Pioneers jumps to 2-2 on the season.
It was a back and forth battle the entire contest as each team answered each others score. Tusculum struck first in the 15h minute before
Thea Schillaci found the back of the net in the 22 minute to tie the score at 1-1. A free kick in the 28th minute put the host back in front before
Giovanna Coghetto scored on a corner kick to knot the score again this time at 2-2 just before the half.
The game winning goal came in the 72nd minute as Sydney Grant scored off a pass from Marin Wills to put the Pioneers ahead for good.
The Lady Bears were out shot on the afternoon 20-8 with just eight of those 20 being on target to compared to five of the eight for Shaw.
Shaw returns to action September 18 as they travel to the University of Mt.Olive for a weekday clash scheduled for 7 PM.
