Dominant Pitching Leads Shaw to Sweep over MACU.

RALEIGH, NC - The Shaw University Lady Bears used two strong pitching performances along with their best hitting of the season on the way to a doubleheader sweep over the visting Mid-Atlantic Christian University Mustangs Monday afternoon at the Walnut Creek Softball Complex. 

GAME 1 | Shaw 8, Mid-Atlantic Christian 0

Senior Syhia Marks was dealing on Monday, throwing a two-hit shutout to lead the Shaw Lady Bears over the Mid-Atlantic Christian Mustangs 8-0.
Marks (2-1) went the distance for Shaw (2-7,), giving up two hits, walking three and striking out 10.
In the batter's box, the Bears were paced by freshman Paradise Andrews, who went 2-for-3 on the day with an RBI. Senior Nataya Truitt furnished a noteworthy day at the dish as well, going 2-for-3 with an RBI. Marks also helped out in the batter's box for Shaw, putting together three hits in three trips to the plate.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bears took the lead for good in the first, scoring for the first time in the inning. Shaw managed to push across two runs in the inning.
The Bears then tacked on runs in the second, fourth, and fifth innings, with their biggest output coming in the fifth when they scored three times.

Junior D'Amani Gadson was impressive on Monday, hurling a five-hit shutout to complete the doubleheader sweep for the Shaw Lady Bears over the Mid-Atlantic Christian Mustangs 8-0.
Gadson (1-1) went the distance for Shaw (3-7,), giving up five hits, walking two and striking out six.
In the batter's box, the Bears were paced by Gadson, who went 3-for-3 on the day with two RBI. Freshman Paradise  Andrews put together a standout day at the dish as well, going 2-for-2 with an RBI. Sophomore O. Ankrom also contributed for Shaw, putting together one hit in one trip to the plate while adding an RBI.

The Bears then tacked on runs in the second, third, and fourth innings, with their biggest output coming in the third when they scored four times. The big hit in that inning was a one-run single off the bat of Andrews.
